Day 2: San Jose to La Fortuna

We have our vehicle, we have a map, we have a full tank a gas, and we've managed to find our way from Hostel Pangea to the freeway out of San Jose. These are some of the first sights of our 2 week adventure. It's sooo green!
We're starting to wonder again...north to La Forunta, or south to the Caribbean side?? So we pulled off onto a side road, and decided to find a place to eat, and review the Lonely Planet guide book again. Good thing we stopped where we did. We found a wonderful little local restaurant with BBQ cooked, rotisserie-style chicken! It was delicious! And ended up being one of the best meals of the trip...and a great meal to start the trip off. Sooo good!
On the road again...and heading into the mountains of Costa Rica. The countryside is so lush and beautiful. And the roads have improved a lot in 4 years! Thank goodness.

Beautiful churches can be found in every town. And are always my one of my favorites to photograph. The trip to La Fortuna took a big longer than expected but we're almost there. The roads are narrow and winding. Good thing we travelled in the daylight hours. The narrow winding roads did not stop us...we continued on, even though we thought of turning back, but by then we were over half way. The roads forced you to drive fairly slow, around 60 kph. It seemed like a longer trip than it really was.

At one point, we finally had to stop and stretch our legs...and while we were at it, why not look at some nice waterfalls.
